Here is why people fail drug tests: You can eliminate many drugs from your system in a matter of days, but what you cannot eliminate from your system are the metabolites of the drugs that remain in your body for sometimes months after you stop using the drug. Many people will stop using drugs for a week or even more before a drug test, only to fail it. They truthfully say they have not used drugs recently and are baffled when the tests don’t show signs of the drugs, but the metabolites reveal the truth, that they are still using. So the short answer is no, you cannot detox your system sufficiently to pass a drug test, period.

Question by worldpeaceplse: If someone is trying to get clean and sober and keeps using, but always wants my help, what do I do?
A friend habitually drinks after around thirty days clean and sober, but wants to get help from me and does not want me to give up on them. Every time there is a relapse there is guilt and shame, but a week later wants to continue to try. I do not know what to do, and I am growing weary of this situation. They could die from late stage alcoholism, but cannot go into in-patient rehabilitation, due to circumstances. I have been there for them and also in recovery. What should I do that will be most effective that might click?

Tell them the truth – that you are sick and tired of the cycle and can’t do anything to help them if they don’t honestly want to help themselves. Say “DUDE- YOU ARE GONNA DIE!!!” and see where that gets ya. Tell them to check into treatment. There’s really nothing you can do – it’s up to him to make those choices in his life.

My cousins friends are all into snorting ketamine, and recently they tried to get me to have some. I refused because i was scared on what it would do to me. But what does Ketamine really do to you and can you control what you are doing and saying? because usually when ive just drunk alcohol i tend to say embarrasing things and I tell the truth about everything, would it be far worse on ketamine?

I thought he would never touch any illicit drugs. He never used any illicit drugs until the age of 50. I think he is using marijuana to get high. Whenever I think about illicit drugs, I always have horrible thoughts. Is there anyway that I can convince him to stop using?

I learned that I burn quite a lot of calories while on ecstasy I think I can go a month with using one pill everyday and stopping after that. What are the negative effects of this though?
