Easy Drug Rehabilitation

Question by Saraphina Blue: RE-POST. I think I lost my last post. Question: What happens at a Narcotics Anonymous meeting? My cousin is?
really nervous and I’d like to let her know it will be all right. Does she have to talk in front of everyone the first meeting? Or can she just listen? What is it like? We only know what we have seen on TV.

It is a meeting place for those who wish to stay busy and not be tempted to do drugs. There are thousands of places nationwide. Each meeting depending on location might be set up a little different. I prefered going with my gf to her AA meetings more than NA. The AA seeemed more lighter. Anyhow, she doesnt have to make a speech, someome might say hi, who are you, please introduce yourself. They can read from books, discuss personal issues, they the people that go can get very close and all be supportive to life issues that they are exploring. Take into account until she goes she doesnt know if shes going where teens are who got busted smoking pot or hard cord older herion ex addicts. If she can go to AA instead, I might suggest going to both kids of meetings and see where its more comforatble to be. The meetings held in large churches seem to be the most entertaining and eaisier to attend. So call around find bigger meetings they might be more easier to go to.
Forget what you see on tv. I have been to 2 dif locations for AA and 1 for NA. The one AA was a huge church, they had almost comedians ex alkys there who told thier life stories and made fun of their mistakes, it was like comedy night and so easy and actually enjoyable to go to. The other AA was at a local meeting hall room, it was more formal but nice. The NA was small like 15 people that night in a small business that let them use the front. So it will depend on what is available in your area. Call the main org listings and ask which if any are larger and more specific for younger persons. No matter what, she can bring as many friends with her as she wishes, so take friends, and make it a pleasant night. Cold turkey. You will sleep a lot at first, and you will need to discipline yourself not to overeat, but it’s quicker and more effective than tapering off. Besides, once you’ve been through cold turkey once, you don’t want to have to do it again, which gives you incentive to stay off the stuff.

Question by Cella: Scientology, what do you think of it?
I went into a drug rehab in April of last year.They stated that another man started Narconon with the help of LRHubbard. My first question to them was if it had anything to do with Scientology. I was told they had nothing, L.Ron Hubbard helped write some of the text. Not knowing anything about The Churh of Scientology (TCS). I believed them and gave them a lot of money. Packed my bags and planed on being there for about 6 months.

Needless to say it was ran just as TCS, I left, went back and then was later kicked out because of not being able to preform there drills.

I was told my family wanted nothing to do with me and that I had 15 min. to pack and they would take me to a bus station, airport or homeless shelter.

My problem is I can’t get this out of my mind. That maybe I didn’t try hard enough and they were not such bad people after all.

I am off drugs and have most of my family back. But things are no where the same. I mean with family. I feel that I let them down
I wwant to add that Narcocnon claims they still have no ties to TCS. A Church can not own a rehab by law.

If a student in the program brings up TCS they will be suspended or kick out.
I was there for 4 months and learned more about Scientology then I ever wanted to. Sometimes when I hear a certain pharse it bothers me.

angelcat, Iwas put in the conditon of liability and they ried to use the formala on me. I thought I was in a B rated movie or something
thetaalways, none of these people have any education but the tech of Scientology. Also, book 9 was for people who plan on drinking alcohol after leaving drug rehab. What kind of rehab thinks that is OK? They allow the staff to drink alcohol after working there for 3 months. They also have no talk therapy. You are not a loud to speak whats on your mind. Only during objectives with your twin, who is not qualified to work with someone , since they are there for the same thing.
I put myself in rehab and made my descision to quit. I suppose now I’m considered an SP. I doubt anyone from there would care if I succeeded since I didn’t finish the program. If they cared they would have, helped me when I tld them of my problems. Instead of kicking me out.

I used to take X, Shrooms, and weed regularly and I decided one day that I was over it. It’s been 2 weeks now and I haven’t even had any withdrawal symptoms…Is that normal?

yes, I would say it’s normal, hope you can keep it up!!
the drugs you have mentioned do not have the physical dependency issues many other narcotics do, such as opiates, or meth-amphetamines. It’s all in your head really from this point on, just keep telling yourself you are doing good, feel good, and really no point doing these on a regular basis!

NA was one of the most important steps to my recovery. I would def recommend going and not missing any. It really healps to be around people in the same situation and to have the suport of just listening to there stories. and I never wanted to talk at the meeting but it does help alot!!!! especially the 12 step good luck and you can do it!
