Question by Christie Stephanie: How do sober assistance become relevant to addiction recovery?
I have a close friend who has a sober assistance while recovering from meth addiction.
Best answer:
Answer by Justin do you mean a sober assistant? if so, then it’s basically a supportive companion to help with the transition from a life of addiction to one without. after years of addiction it’s hard to know what to do with yourself… they help to show you how to live without the drug ruling your life because they have been through the same thing.
Question by k: How do you stay sober? (meth addiction)?
Is there anyone that is addicted to meth?
Why is it so hard to get long term sobriety?
I have been through so many programs including 12 step programs.
How long have you been sober?
What has worked for you?
Best answer:
Answer by Alex W Other people forcing you to be sober doesn’t always work because you have to want to be sober. Going to a 12 step program feels like work probably, but if you find a reason FOR YOURSELF to stay sober, it will be a lot easier.
Family, friends, kids, work, health. Any of these things should be enough for you to want to stay sober.

I never had a sponsor or did the 12 steps,I stopped going after a few months.

Question by worldpeaceplse: If someone is trying to get clean and sober and keeps using, but always wants my help, what do I do?
A friend habitually drinks after around thirty days clean and sober, but wants to get help from me and does not want me to give up on them. Every time there is a relapse there is guilt and shame, but a week later wants to continue to try. I do not know what to do, and I am growing weary of this situation. They could die from late stage alcoholism, but cannot go into in-patient rehabilitation, due to circumstances. I have been there for them and also in recovery. What should I do that will be most effective that might click?

Answer by FORZA ITALIAAAAAAAA!!!!!!! Tell them the truth – that you are sick and tired of the cycle and can’t do anything to help them if they don’t honestly want to help themselves. Say “DUDE- YOU ARE GONNA DIE!!!” and see where that gets ya. Tell them to check into treatment. There’s really nothing you can do – it’s up to him to make those choices in his life.
