Question by Christie Stephanie: How do sober assistance become relevant to addiction recovery?
I have a close friend who has a sober assistance while recovering from meth addiction.
Best answer:
Answer by Justin do you mean a sober assistant? if so, then it’s basically a supportive companion to help with the transition from a life of addiction to one without. after years of addiction it’s hard to know what to do with yourself… they help to show you how to live without the drug ruling your life because they have been through the same thing.
Question by Cassie: Meth Addiction & Recovery: Will my metabolism ever be normal again?
I gained about 35 lbs in 3 weeks after I quit. Its been 9 months and I’ve been dieting religiously. I know for certain that my metabolism is seriously screwed up. I am worried that it will never be the same. If anyone has personal experiences with this, please share.

Answer by Nobody Congrats on your sobriety! Weight gain happens even when quitting cigarettes. No personal experience here, but keep taking good care of yourself. It can only be of a benefit to you and everyone around you. I bet you things will get back to normal, even if it takes over a year. Otherwise, ask a doctor.

Alcoholics Anonymous – Everything you ever wanted to know but where afraid to ask. Well not all of them, but it is a good sized swing at this topic as a whole. One could spend hours on this topic. I have grown quite tired of the self important XA people and their hateful commentary. None of what they claim is true in anyway. They like to claim a non-religious status, but their links to religion are quite clear to say the very least. They claim that have a great success ratio and in fact it is 5% or less. They claim a false dichotomy in which they give you 2 choices. Their way or death, when in fact there are lots of other solutions to your alcohol or drug abuse. AA defends like a religion so I use the same debate tactics with it.

Tobacco Recovery Resource Exchange. There is a theory that by banning smoking from drug treatment programs, they have a better chance at long term recovery. The other opinion is that by banning smoking from programs, people with severe drug problems won’t enter treatment to begin with, thus keeping them on hard drugs. What do people think?
