Question by The therapist / MSW: how long did it take you to get hooked on crystal meth?
I am a therapist that works with mostly addicts so I am attempting to gain as much knowledge on the subject as possible. Feel free to tell your story of meth addiction.
P.S. Im a children’s social worker and meth destroys lives.

A person can be hooked the first time meth is used. It is a very addictive drug. I don’t use drugs but I work in corrections and see lives devastated every day.

As cocaine interferes with the way the brain processes chemicals, one needs more and more of the drug just to feel “normal.” People who become addicted to cocaine (as with most other drugs) lose interest in life. Coming down from the drug causes severe depression, which becomes deeper and deeper after each use. This can get so severe that a person will do almost anything to get the drug — even commit murder. And if he or she can’t get cocaine, the depression can get so intense it can drive the addict to suicide.
