either self help/drug rehab or just an inspiring book that might make a person exzamine and understand the results of ones actions. Any idea would help!

I mean what exactly happens in the brain physically to make it so enjoyable that people are wililng to do most anything to get more? And what can a person do to learn to live without it?

My father was absent most of my life due to his addiction to meth. He has been clean for three years and has been back in my life for about two. I am having trouble bonding with him, it feels like there is a barrier and I thought that if I read about meth addiction it may help me understand were he is coming from. i’m not sure which was the title exactly but it’s a journal the publishers published anonymously; the addict is a teenage girl and you can see how it changes her life + those around her – i think it’ll help because 1, it’s a real life story, and 2, you can see how one could fall into addiction and maybe it’ll help with seeing him above his addiction

I have a good friend who lives in the Chicago area. I moved away from there 2 years ago partly to get away from stuff like crack, meth, etc. I must admit that I smoked crack with him quite a few times but I stopped doing it for the obvious reasons. He had quit several times before but always went back to it. The last time he quit I thought he quit for good. He lied to me about it. He called me last night extremely depressed, almost suicidal. I think he must have been on a binge and was coming down from it. He admits he needs help and I would like to help him but I live 200 miles away from him. What can I do?
