Here is how William Benitez started his in NYC…if you go to this site, you can ask them how you can open up a drug rehab, or at least start you in the right direction. I hope this helps. (At the bottom is a site that can help you get started on having your own drug rehab center.)

How did the Narconon program start?
Narconon was founded in 1966 by William Benitez, a heroin addict who was incarcerated in the Arizona State Prison for a long series of drug-related crimes. Benitez wanted to resolve his addiction and through his personal research into workable techniques to kick drugs ran into a book called Fundamentals of Thought, written by American author and humanitarian L.Ron Hubbard. Benitez was able to glean principals out these writings by Mr. Hubbard to improve his ability to communicate about, face up to, and resolve basic life problems that had contributed to his drug addiction and held it in place for many years. Impressed with the effectiveness of this information as it related to drug addiction, Benitez formed an alliance with Mr. Hubbard and developed a workable drug and alcohol rehabilitation program that would free people from drug addiction without the use of substitute drugs or medications. Benitez formed the Narconon organization and Mr. Hubbard continued and shared his research and developments in the drug rehab field. Narconon now has over 30 drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs in 11 different countries.

I have a friend who died due to the adverse effects of heroin. For a time, I was just angry at drugs, angry at the people who were doing drugs. Don’t they know that they’re hurting their loved ones by doing that? But then I realized that my anger won’t do me any good at all. So now I have decided to help out. I would like to become an addiction counselor and I need to ask around at various rehabs about the requirement before I become one.

Wow. I’m glad that you were able to realize that being angry won’t solve anything. I applaud your decision of wanting to become an addiction counselor. I think having experience in doing social work will really help you. I think you have to take up a program or a few courses on addiction counseling before you become qualified, but it varies between drug rehabs, I guess. Anyway, to find them, you can use the links below. You can also browse through the local phone directory or call your local health services department to ask for a list of drug rehab centers near you. Good luck! I really hope you succeed in pursuing that endeavor.

I’m so sorry that your friend and her brother has to go through that. It’s a good thing that you’re there to help, though. The links below will get to help you in your search. You can also tell your friend to bring her brother to a doctor so the doctor will be able to tell her what kind of treatment program will be good for her brother as well as which rehab center can provide him with that kind of treatment. Going to NA will be good too.

I’ve heard that this is better than methadone and I just want to suggest it to a friend of mine who is going to get herself treated for her heroin addiction.

I don’t know much about buprenorphine, but I have read some things that did make it seem as if it was a lot more appealing than methadone. You would have to ask around at drug rehabs to know for sure, I guess.

I never thought there would come a time when I would be worrying about something like this. You see, ever since my mom and dad separated, my mom has turned into a drug addict. Of all the people who could be addicts, I never thought my mom would be one of them. But now here we are, on this road, wanting so much to do what we can in order for her to revert back to her old self. She has already realized the folly of her actions and is now willing to change. See if you can find “Alcoholics Anonymous” listed in your phone book. If so, call them and ask if there are any “NA” (Narcotics Anonymous) groups in the area, and how you can get help for your mother. They also have groups and meetings for family members of those affected. Good Luck!

So why am I asking about Delaware? Simple. My parents want me to find a drug rehabilitation program for my brother Jaime in New Castle, Delaware – a place that’s far enough from home… and from rumors. My parents are very protective of Jaime and they don’t want anybody else to find out that their son has a problem with drugs. I would really appreciate your answers.
