Question by aditi is: I want to find buprenorphine-administering drug rehabilitation centers in Freeport, Texas. How?
I have come across information that claims buprenorphine to be better than methadone. I would like to know if this is true, hence the search for drug rehabs. The Internet provides sketchy details and I have found some sources to be contradicting.

I agree with you that the Internet sometimes provides confusing details. I too have heard of the news that buprenorphine happens to be more appealing than methadone, but then again, I don’t know much about the subject. Below are links that may get to help you in your search. Good luck! I do hope that you get the information you need.

Why are horses used in drug rehabilitation programs?

Question by : Why are horses used in drug rehabilitation programs?
I always wondered about this….

Anyone know?

Best answer:

Answer by Stephanie
Because all animals, including horses, have no fear or hate towards humans unless it is put there. So when the people bond with the horses, it gives them something to look forward to, and something that they have to do. They use horses for MANY therapy programs, some including physical therapy, mental, etc.

Cocaine PSA Drug Free Canada 1991

Somewhat shocking anti-drug PSA from 1991. I suppose we should be thankful it didn’t show the Bus going off a cliff or something, as sometimes these things did tend to get a bit sensationalist…

Q&A: Any drug rehabilitation counselors out there?

January 19, 2012 - 3:57 am Comments Off

Question by Iamshan: Any drug rehabilitation counselors out there?
For an assignment in class, I need to interview a drug rehabilitation counselor. I don’t have time to go out and meet with one.
1. background and professional preparation for such a position
2. the most difficult part of the job
3. the most satisfying part of the job
4. what he or she has learned on the job
5. some generalizations about this counselor’s clients

Answer by luke
1. I grew up in a neighborhood where drugs ruined many people’s lives. I wanted to do something about.
I went to school for psychology and social work. But the most important thing you can do to prepare is to have compassion and not quick to judge.
2. The most difficult part of my job is dealing with those who refuse any kind of help, because they can easily bring down those making an effort. Specifically, people who relapse (or worse!) when they showed so much promise that they really wanted to change
3. The most satisfying is prevention. Its a long and difficult road to recovery for full blown addicts, but the younger ones who are dabbling with pot and drinking i try to make it so they leave never ever wanting to touch a needle.
4. Do NOT f*** with heroin
5. I work at a private in patient rehab in missouri. The alcholics are ussually older- upper 40s to early 60s and up. Those that use street drugs are usually younger- 20s to very early 30s. Probsbly 85% of them use nicotine, which we allow. OTher then that there is ussually a surprisingly large cross section of society. We get dealers, housewives, business men, working class heroes, engineers, farmers, punks, gays. A lot of these people a f***ed in the head, and are totally beyond rehabilitation. Just last week we had a lady thatwas in her early 30′s and really fat. She was here because of a court order, complete 4 weeks of rehab or lose her kids and go to jail for 2 years. 3 weeks in it turned out she had been shooting up in her room and was drinking scope.

But thats why i keep going. its all for the few that do change so they never get into a situation like that
