Question by extweaker: Why is it so hard to live life after an addiction to crystal meth? can you really have life after that?
i am 19 years old and i had a addition for 3 years now i finally quit on my own and im in college. I have a job but its really hard i think that im going to fail in life. i notice eveything gotten a lot better but still.

You need a support group. to get you through. You have to be aware on a daily basis. A lady at work. few years ago, was off it and it was a daily struggle, but it got easier as time went by. you need to fill your days with a job or schooling ,go to the gym and make NEW friends and things will work ou for you . You took the first step . good luck..

Hi Mushroom, I haven’t though of Under Dog for ages.As far as i know, that was just a energy boost, and it worked all the time.So lets not give Under Dog a bad name.

Im 14 and been addicted to meth for about 5 to 6 months how can i stop,cause it is hard i lost weight and liked what i was seeing so i kept going on it,but i love the high 2 just being on top of toes=if you know what i mean.but then hate it because i feel like a different person when im on it i feel like i can do anything and not care,but i would hate 2 take drug classes

this is a very sad situation. i live in minnesota and i listen to a christian radio station and they have a program that helps with drug and alcohol addicted teens. you should really try to go to something like that. do your parents know? if they dont, you need to tell them. i have done things that i dont feel comfortable telling anyone, even my parents. but you really need help because you are really really putting yourself in danger. it IS completely necessary to CALL 911!! the doctors and nurses WILL take care of everything. the number you need to call is either 911 or 1800622HELP (18006334357) and do it NOW!!!

everything.She lost her job and he got demoted trying to help her with the kids, she would bring them to his job and make him watch them.They have been late on the rent, he was buying a car and he lost that. The kids are already having troubles. I am trying to get him to understand how dangerous her situation is, he is not trying to listen but is there at least something I can do to help the kids to not get involved in the same world as there Mom’s, her parent and siblings are also into drugs so I can not contact Grandparents.

Question by dumbass-me: How do I know if I’m addicted to Crystal Meth?
I am 16 yrs old and I have smoked crystal for the last 3 morning straight. I don’t feel the need to do it, I only did it to be focused in some tests and to try it I guess, I done it before, snorted it and smoked it, and lasted a month with out it, does this mean I’m an addict?

From your description it does not sound like you are an addict. Addiction can be summed up as continued use of a substance despite consequences. I you are not having problem from use then you are not an addict. HOWEVER, if you find you crave it (even if you can control the craving) that is a very strong indication of the start of an addiction. Deciding to use it again to help you focus for a test is typically not considered a craving.

I would really recommend you see a doctor and you might consider getting evaluated for ADHD. One of the treatments for ADHD is amphetamines (even methamphetamine is a prescription medication in The US) and many people with untreated ADHD will turn to drugs, especially amphetamines and cocaine, because it can help with their problem.

It is very rare for people to use street methamphetamine (especially smoking or snorting it) to help with focus. Most people buy drugs like Adderall, Ritalin, or Dexedrine so the fact you are using the most powerful stimulant and you don’t take it by mouth puts you at greater risk of developing an addiction.
