Question by Mary From Wyoming: what is the BEST drug rehabilitation clinic for my husband to go to?
My husband has been struggling with a drug problem for about 2 years. He was addicted to cocaine and eventually starting mixing it with Heroine. Now he is Finally ready for help but he wants to keep it confidential and he is looking for an alternative to 12 step programs and an alternative to narconon. We are atheists and would prefer a NON religious drug treatment center. can anyone tell us where to get more information about this?

Thank you for your time.

Good luck finding a rehab that isn’t 12 step based!

I’m an atheist in recovery as well!

I use the N/A program without the whole “god” thing!

Think of “god” as good orderly direction!

That’s what I did/do and have managed to stay clean and sober for almost 4yrs now!

Email me if you like!

No matter what you decide good luck to you both! Its not an easy road to tackle at first but with time and a clear mind its an amazing journey! Continued support is necessary to make it – you don’t just do 28 days rehab and assume all is well!

Edit: Merlin Bravo! Had no clue too bad its in Malibu!

What do you think? Answer below!

I think the main thing is she go to one or the other ASAP. They will know how to deal with her problems in either case.

Mayo Clinic Study May Help Cool Hot Flashes

February 4, 2010 - 11:07 pm 1 Comment

A pill used for nerve pain offers women relief from hot flashes, Mayo Clinic researchers report at the 45th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). They say the agent, pregabalin, decreased hot flash severity and frequency about 20 percent more than did a placebo agent. Thus, pregabalin appears to offer about the same benefit as gabapentin, an older, related drug, as well as newer classes of antidepressants. Hot flashes are a major problem in many women, and for those who opt not to take hormonal therapies or antidepressants, pregabalin appears to be another treatment option, says the studys lead author, Charles Loprinzi, MD, a medical oncologist at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. While pregabalin offers about the same benefit as gabapentin, women who use it only need to take two pills a day, versus three for gabapentin, he says. Side effects can occur with the use of either drug. However, in this study, they were not severe enough that participants stopped using the active study drug any more often than did patients who were taking placebos, researchers say. Dr. Loprinzi has pioneered the field of nonhormonal hot flash therapy, which he began researching decades ago to help breast cancer patients using tamoxifen, an anti-estrogen treatment that creates symptoms of menopause. He is the first researcher to test the use of antidepressants, compared to placebo treatment, for hot flashes.
