Question by aditi is: I want to find buprenorphine-administering drug rehabilitation centers in Freeport, Texas. How?
I have come across information that claims buprenorphine to be better than methadone. I would like to know if this is true, hence the search for drug rehabs. The Internet provides sketchy details and I have found some sources to be contradicting.

I too have heard of the news that buprenorphine happens to be more appealing than methadone, but then again, I don’t know much about the subject. i found this list for you.
it says alcoholism in the link, but it’s actually all rehabilitation centers for substance abuse in the area

I have a friend who died due to the adverse effects of heroin. For a time, I was just angry at drugs, angry at the people who were doing drugs. Don’t they know that they’re hurting their loved ones by doing that? But then I realized that my anger won’t do me any good at all. So now I have decided to help out. I would like to become an addiction counselor and I need to ask around at various rehabs about the requirement before I become one.

Wow. I’m glad that you were able to realize that being angry won’t solve anything. I applaud your decision of wanting to become an addiction counselor. I think having experience in doing social work will really help you. I think you have to take up a program or a few courses on addiction counseling before you become qualified, but it varies between drug rehabs, I guess. I think the reason why there were more teens spending their time in the drug rehabilitation center that your friend has just gotten out of is the fact that teens are more likely to get themselves addicted to drugs. Peers play a very important role with regard to whether a teen will start taking drugs or not. Those who don’t do drugs during their teenage years are also less likely to start taking it when they grow older. Every day, around 4,800 Americans under the age of 18 try marijuana for the first time. This is why the government and other organizations are trying to prevent more teens from taking drugs.

You can also tell your friend to bring her brother to a doctor so the doctor will be able to tell her what kind of treatment program will be good for her brother as well as which rehab center can provide him with that kind of treatment. I don’t know much about buprenorphine, but I have read some things that did make it seem as if it was a lot more appealing than methadone. You would have to ask around at drug rehabs to know for sure, I guess.

I never thought there would come a time when I would be worrying about something like this. You see, ever since my mom and dad separated, my mom has turned into a drug addict. Of all the people who could be addicts, I never thought my mom would be one of them. But now here we are, on this road, wanting so much to do what we can in order for her to revert back to her old self. She has already realized the folly of her actions and is now willing to change. See if you can find “Alcoholics Anonymous” listed in your phone book. If so, call them and ask if there are any “NA” (Narcotics Anonymous) groups in the area, and how you can get help for your mother. They also have groups and meetings for family members of those affected. Good Luck!
