How can I pass a blood-urine drug test in 2-4 days after using methamphetamines? Can I detox my system?

Question by rayne: How can I pass a blood-urine drug test in 2-4 days after using methamphetamines? Can I detox my system?

Here is why people fail drug tests: You can eliminate many drugs from your system in a matter of days, but what you cannot eliminate from your system are the metabolites of the drugs that remain in your body for sometimes months after you stop using the drug. Many people will stop using drugs for a week or even more before a drug test, only to fail it. They truthfully say they have not used drugs recently and are baffled when the tests don’t show signs of the drugs, but the metabolites reveal the truth, that they are still using. So the short answer is no, you cannot detox your system sufficiently to pass a drug test, period.

My experience is the only thing I can share…..but the first time I tried meth, I loved it. It was the best feeling in the world, and it made sex incredible. It depends on what your definition of addicted is. Will you crave the drug and need it immediately after it leaves your system? Probably not, but I did want to try it again. Luckily I only did it a couple of times. Most of my friends who tried it once, are addicted, in rehab, and have lost everything. My advice…….don’t do it, NEVER!

Question by Autismmomof2: Is there something I can take to lose weight after meth addiction?
I have been sober for over 15 years however I have gained 100 lbs. I am over 50 years old and I was pregnant 3 times, quit smoking and have a stressed life with Autistic child and abusive mother. I may be bipolar from all the stress in life and being a reformed drug addict. Is there something I can or should be taking to control my weight gain and depression together? Thanks for all your honest and knowledgable answers.

You should consult with a doctor about this.

As a recovering meth addict, I assume that you are probably limiting or avoiding any sort of stimulants. Most weight loss medicines over the counter are really just stimulants, so I would suggesting staying away from them.

You’ll probably need to examine your dietary needs and plan a responsible weight loss strategy with your doctor or nutritionist. Your doctor might also explore medical reasons for your weight gain. Yes it can also be related to depression, so, your doctor will also consider that. You may be referred to certain specialists to make sure you are getting the right comibnation of expertise for your individual situation, if necessary.

Good luck, and HUGE congratulations on being sober for 15 years!

How do you find work after a long gap in employment?

August 27, 2010 - 12:58 am 3 Comments

Question by on_the_move4ever: How do you find work after a long gap in employment?
I haven’t worked since August 2002. I’m on disability. I was approved the first time. I’ve been working very hard in rehab to improve, and I finished 17 months of physical therapy in March, (I’m still doing PT, but on my own now). The doctors still have not cleared me to work yet – they aren’t going to clear me until pain is under control and I’m off narcotics, and I’m still on narcotics and I still don’t have pain under control. But I”m trying. I want to work very bad- especially since my wife died and I”m here all day. But how do you deal with the gap, everyone I spoke with requires recent experience. That won’t be the case for me. Most likely I will have to find something else to do and start over. I just don’t know what that might be. Should I just let the DVR handle dealing with the employers? I don’t know.

Since you are disabled, you can be going to school for new job training. I think disability or something could or would (maybe) pay for it. I would think most employers would be understanding of a gap in employment because of a disability.

Q&A: how do i leave my common law husband after 21 years?

July 27, 2010 - 11:29 pm 6 Comments

Question by figaro’s mom: how do i leave my common law husband after 21 years?
emotional abuse, infidelity, substance and alcoholism. we bring out the worst in each other. i am a recovering alcoholic with my first year truly living sober in one month. i had the support of counselling and out patient rehabilitation therapy. for the first time in my life, i have seen all kinds of life’s scenarios with a different perspective. unfortunately, i have realized that the relationship i am in fit well with being an alcoholic and a co-dependent person because we both had the right toxic cocktail approach to a relationship. i thought everything was my fault, end of story and have since realized there is so much more beneath the surface. i am still so scared to be on my own even if it means that i will grow. i am one year away from being 50. i still feel unlovable and disgusting, even though intellectually i know that is my disease talking to me. sometimes i still wish i could just “end it all” but realize that as another escape mechanism, like booze. he’s a drug user too, but he insists that pot is good for you. i dont agree. i feel so confused and sad.

As cocaine interferes with the way the brain processes chemicals, one needs more and more of the drug just to feel “normal.” People who become addicted to cocaine (as with most other drugs) lose interest in life. Coming down from the drug causes severe depression, which becomes deeper and deeper after each use. This can get so severe that a person will do almost anything to get the drug — even commit murder. And if he or she can’t get cocaine, the depression can get so intense it can drive the addict to suicide.
