He is not interested in NA or any faith-based program. Are there any proven state-funded programs or at least semi-affordable programs? He lives in Cali. He dropped out of high school and has little motivation to do anything, despite being smart and good-looking. My parents basically let him do whatever he wants, and I don’t trust them to change or be able to help. He wants to learn to discipline himself and get a job, etc. but first he needs to kick the drugs.

Call your local hospital or get in touch with a psychiatrist. Both would know all your options regarding rehab. No, he may not be interested in NA or faith based programs, but those options are utilized by people who are atheists as well. He is the one who got on the drugs in the first place and an arrogant approach as to what he will make use of to kick them is not going to work in his favor.

I am 36 years old and my mother is 100% addicted meth- amphetamines. My whole life I have never seen her without being on some kind of drug. Now that she is 50+ years old she has lost what little mind that she had. She is paranoid, delusional, massively depressed and violent. She refuses to get any help because she thinks everyone is trying to rape and kill her. I want to help her but I cant. I don’t have the money to get her any real treatment not to mention she has already said that she would just check herself out in 3 days. Do I just walk away and let her die? I know that I cant be around her anymore because I have a problem with depression myself. Any ideas???

I would get her some help…pray but see if there is a trusting institution that can take her in until she is clean. I know this must hurt you alot but it would hurt more to see her waiste away even more than she already is. I apologize that she never gave you the chance to see how beautiful she can be without the drugs, but I know above all you love her and you need to pray and get her the help she deserves. I wish you and the family much luck.

I have come across information that claims buprenorphine to be better than methadone. I would like to know if this is true, hence the search for drug rehabs. The Internet provides sketchy details and I have found some sources to be contradicting.

I agree with you that the Internet sometimes provides confusing details. I too have heard of the news that buprenorphine happens to be more appealing than methadone, but then again, I don’t know much about the subject. no is not addicted it depends on the person how weak they are .. i try it a couple of time and did not get hook on it
