it doesn’t make you a bad person – just stay away from these people in the future if you value your life.

There is nothing wrong with using good advice. But the best advice when it comes to that organization is to ‘stay away, and DO NOT give them your money’.
And it is interesting that you just proved that Narconon is a Scientologist organization.

In response to your addition: Scientology and Narconon has publicly said in the media that Narconon is not a Scientology affiliated organization.
And I have never been there, nor do I live in the US, so it would be hard for me to see it for myself.

And there is that guy again, I think the last one I saw with that long of a post had the name of Affinity Warrior. It appears that he searches for Scientology related questions and posts all that Scientology propaganda. I wonder if he is made to do so?

The only part I object to is the heavy legal hand and blackmail against critics.
I think the critics are nitwits, but the gangster style retaliation gives the nitwits justification.
Anti-religion people are always nitwits. Why do stuff that might make them appear legit?
STs!

I myself really don’t know anything about Scientology but biblically you should rely on Jesus Christ and pray to him and ask for his help in any problems you have. To answer your true question does this make you a bad person, NEVER. But it does make you a follower of worldly religion which you will find yourself down the road less happy and with more problems.

That’s the thing..they are just “points”…….. of course a cult like church of scientology will use normal points and topics that generally are just common sense…..they’re not gona start telling you how you are a “supressed” person or start talking about gligoos and gloogas in the first meeting……. what annoys me about cults in general is that what they talk about can be learned in school or from common sense, the diff is they try to make their message more special compared to other sources. Glad you didn’t get into it fully….but you walk a fine line.

There’s always going to be lots of things out there that seems to put things into perspective. It doesn’t mean they’re right. Even if I created a religion (aka scam cross cult) today and wanted it to spread I’d write some really compelling stuff that ‘sounds right and inspiring’.
The real question is in intentions- what do these people want in return? In the case of scientology this would be a life of servitude, payment(in cash) and expendability. Is that what you really want? If some part of their philosophy helped you, then fine, acknowledge it- but is there really anything to be grateful for given their intentions (and evidence for it)? No.
So take whatever you felt was helpful with you- but stay away!

Sorry about all the bull you are getting here. This is low tone enviroment, there are many misconceptions about Scientology. Here is some info for you and everyone else who reads this.
Scientology is a religious applied philosophy.
“It is possible to know about the mind, the spirit and life”
Scientology states that man is a Spiritual being that controls a body through a mind. To represent this life force, the Greek symbol for though: “Theta” was selected to avoid confusion with any prior practice.
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ncBcbVtEwUc
The mind (we are not talking about the brain that is just the center of the nervous system) is a bank of mental image pictures. This bank is what the spirit uses to make decisions; it is composed of the analytical mind and the reactive mind. The analytical mind is clear; it doesn’t have any hidden influences and is fully accessible by the Thetan. The reactive mind is a collection of bad mental image picture that include pain, unconsciousness and command value. The reactive mind is the hidden influence that aberrates reason. The reactive mind is the cause for all human aberration, insanity or evil purpose.
Scientology’s approach to solve human aberration: Auditing.
-“Communication is the Universal Solvent.”
-“All problems of the mind are created by the mind.”
-“The mind can solve all the problems of the mind”
When dealing with the reactive mind we are dealing with the problem that individual is trying to confront that which he thinks he can’t confront so he is stuck. To solve this problem Hubbard developed Auditing. A verbal therapy that uses questions to help the individual address what is bothering him. So the person by his own volition can solve his own problems. The big difference between Auditing and Psychoanalysis is that the Psychoanalyst evaluates for the person and tells him what to think. In Auditing you just ask and listen and let the person make his own mind about things. If you give a person a fish you can feed him one time but if you teach him to fish you can feed him for a life time. That’s Scientology’s approach.
There are no suggestions involved in Auditing, all conclusion are done by you by your own intelligence. Auditors are bound the Auditor’s Code to never evaluate for the preclear (preclear is a person receiving Scientology processing). Never get in a relationship with the preclear. All information released during auditing is protected by law and not even the police can gain access to that information. Enforcing this code of conduct is the Scientology Ethics Officer and Scientology law. Any violation to the Auditors code is considered a high crime in Scientology and will result removal of any Auditing Certificates and/or expulsion from the church. I have seen this happen and is a very serious matter.
Any friend or family member can audit you for free. Or you can take the courses and get your Auditing with other students. If you hire a professional auditing team it will cost you the fees of the professional auditing team. An auditing team is composed of the Auditor, Ethics Officer, Quality Assurance (the person that tells the Auditor what to do), Corrections (the people that constantly train the Auditor on how to do the process) and the rest of the administration of a Church of Scientology. These are not one on one services, these are a whole team working to better you. It is expensive because is expensive to create and maintain the team.

How Scientology evolved?
Scientology evolved from Dianetics when it was discovered that man is a spiritual being. Scientology differs from Dianetics in that Dianetics deals with the mind and the rehabilitation of mental image pictures and Scientology deals with the rehabilitation of the human spirit itself.

We don’t ask for your faith in Scientology. There is no faith needed, when you can observe and experience it working by your self.

“Self confidence alone is security. Your ability is your security. There is no security but you. Let’s make the best possible you.” L Ron Hubbard

Cult status?
All great religions have been misunderstood, persecuted and attacked. Jesus was sentenced to death by a lynching crowd; his only crime: to teach Love and forgiveness. Christians were KILLED for centuries for their beliefs. It was believed that Christians performed cannibalistic rituals and that they were dangerous (didn’t they ate and drink the body of Jesus?).
Scientology is a worldwide religion that claims 10 millions of members. It has centers in almost every mayor capital in the world: Washington, London, Berlin, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Sydney, Tel Aviv Israel and Moscow to name a few. And for a church that is barely 40 years old this is great. Scientology is not a small sect based in a small town in Texas isolated from the rest of the world. Scientology thrives in the center of mayor cities, its member are community leaders, doctors, teachers and workers from all sectors of society. The fact most Scientologists have a college education says a lot.
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=lI0AbwtQ7Bc
Scientologists are involved in all kinds of community improvement programs. The “drug free marshals” promote a drug free life style: http://www.drugfreemarshals.org/ The Scientology volunteer minister have helped in every mayor disaster area in the last 5 years: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=VC9_epA-SpI The New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project has helped over 800 9/11 rescue workers to live healthier lives: http://www.nypost.com/seven/06122007/news/columnists/cruisess_clinic_ok_columnists_steve_dunleavy.htm The way to happiness foundation promotes integrity, ethics and morals: http://www.thewaytohappiness.org/about/resources-and-downloads/e-books/?id= Narconon is the biggest drug rehabilitation network word wide and runs the biggest drug rehabilitation center in the U.S.: http://www.narconon.org/ Criminon work with governments agencies to rehabilitate inmates: http://www.criminon.org/ Applied Scholastics promotes the use of smart study and educational techniques on a failed national educational systems: http://www.appliedscholastics.org/
Scientology is committed to solve all mayor social problems including lack of morals, illiteracy, drugs and criminality. So those failed institutions that created these problems in the first place are calling foul and calling Scientology a cult. Who cares they are dying dinosaurs that failed to better society. Just a bunch of fakes with their “man is a soulless biological machine” ideology. Their ideas are not even worth the paper they are written into. To think that this is what passes for Social Sciences in today’s colleges is just mind boggling.
Is nice to have the faith that things will bet better but it is even better to have the tools to make this happen. This is Scientology.

Your one of the lucky ones to have done well with narconon, esp. as the ‘science’ it is ‘based on’ has been proven to be absolutely wrong. But if they have helped you stay clean for 2 years then great to you and them.
There doses of vitamins are absurdly high and infact are more likely to cause a person harm, and combined with trying to sweat out stuff that isn’t there anymore, this program is laughable at best. The science of narconon is not science, there was never any research to test the methods, and any look by the medical authorities shows narconon to be a laughing stock.
http://narconon-exposed.org/
He also says scientology is the only cure for radiation sickness, and guess what he’s totally wrong there too.
However, there is the odd bit of good stuff in Hubbard’s work because he stole it all anyway, and reframed it for a tool for cult indoctrination. So there is nothing wrong in finding the odd bit of good in scientology stuff, some of it is just common sense written in pseudo-scientific terms that they try to charge you for. But for your own safety and sanity I would highly recommend staying away from scientology.

Well i cant stress this more than enough.
Quoting from the works of L. Ron Hubbard:
“What is true for you is what you have observed for yourself and when you loose that you have lost everything.
What is personal integrity? Personal Integrity is knowing what you know. What you know is what you know. And to have the courage to know and say what you have observed. And that is integrity. And there is no other integrity.”
L. Ron Hubbard
So you have experienced gains from the Narconon program. And you stayed clean for quite some time. Very Well Done!
Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. You know for yourself that this technology worked for you. Why let someone push you into the mud?
So why care about what some small group of haters think about Scientology, which by the way is completely separated from the Narconon program and the only ties that the two share is its Founder, L. Ron Hubbard.
Do you actually believe that everyone carries a negative viewpoint on Scientology? The media only speaks of negative and hyped up things. You never hear about the people who speaks of the miracles that this technology has brought, like your success story.
This is the reason why you need to not buy into the hyped up confusion and instead tell people about your gains and wins from the Narconon program. They will help you.
After all as a Scientologist, we are working for a world without insanity without criminality, without war, where the able can prosper and where man is free to rise to greater heights. And with Narconon, they are working for a world without Drugs.
