Im glad you know now!…Im a young adult with FAS and let me tell you life wasn’t easy and isn’t going to be in the future. Don’t hate yourself for not knowing what could happen to your child if you drank, be an advocate. Speak and teach others about it so that maybe you could save another child from having a lifetime of difficulties.

this isnt a very good psa, especially for a school of the arts. I didn’t learn much from it and without music it was boring and the rapping at the end was horrible!

I’m 14 years old and all 3 of my sisters unfortunley have FAS..let me tell you. It can be very hard living with them!!

  12. darkpixie8585 Says:

Im quoting this out of my HN book, Called Nutrition & You by Joan Salge Blake, page 323… “The only proven safe amount of alcohol a pregnant woman can consume is NONE!!!! Women should advoid alcohol if they are, or could become, pregnant.”

  13. darkpixie8585 Says:

Your doctor is obviously not smart at all. Any good reputable doctor WILL tell you over and over again that drinking is NOT recommended during pregancy. There is NO known ammount that could hurt you baby, so therefor NO drinking during pregancy. Reserchers DON’T know what causes FAS for sure, so the best way to advoid it is to not drink AT ALL.
How freaking selfish can you people be? You can’t wait 9 freaking months w/o drinking? How would you feel if you child did get it because of YOU?

  14. aussielung Says:

uh, human nutrition and psychology studies. So how many babies are you qualified to deliver?

BTW I did go to university and just like yours my degree had nothing to do with pre natal care or fertility so my facts come from someone who has studied in the field, not a random google search with so called facts that are dubious at best.

  15. aussielung Says:

Thanks Rachal. It’s nice to see someone who has an opinion of a professional over what they read on a google search chiming in.

  16. rachalkey Says:

I am so with you. When I was pregnant, my ob/gyn told me clearly that a glass of wine, or 1 beer occasionally would have no effect on my son and he is perfectly fine! Eventhough I still felt guilty and only had 1 beer. I agree with you. I have read the same things in text books and head it from more than one doctor. They have the degrees on their walls, not all these people stating wrong OPINIONS!

  17. darkpixie8585 Says:

And the comment about how wine has great antioxidants, this maybe true but there is also a numerous other sources that you can get these antioxidants from. It doesn’t have to be wine, so that arguement kind of failed for you…

  18. darkpixie8585 Says:

Apparently, you never went to school. I am currently in Human Nutrition AND Psychology and they can’t stress enough how drinking effects the fetus. If you are told by a doctor that it is okay to drink during pregancy then you need to go to a different doctor.
DRINKING, EVEN JUST A LITTLE, IS KNOWN FOR CAUSING FAS. OVER AND OUT.

  19. ohrined Says:

If you look online, you can easily find studies, articles, and research conducted by “professionals” (AKA M.D.’s) that support the points I made.

  20. aussielung Says:

Like I said, I will trust the professional opinion over that of a random youtube user.

  21. ohrined Says:

“No amount of alcohol has been proven safe to consume during pregnancy. FAS and FAE…are 100% preventable when a pregnant woman abstains from alcohol.” While it’s true, more symptoms are more commonly seen in alcoholic (8-10 drinks daily) mothers, there are definite symptoms that range greatly in mothers who drink as few as 2 drinks. Daily drinking does not need to occur for FAS to be present.

  22. aussielung Says:

I’m fairly sure the pre natal doctor who advised my sister of this fact would know more on the subject than you.

  23. ohrined Says:

    You’re incorrect.

  24. aussielung Says:

Why am I seeing some many incorrect facts on you tube lately? FAS only effects children bourn of alcoholic mothers not a moderate drinker. It has also been advised that a single glass of red wine once a week during pregnancy can do no harm to the child and in fact can be beneficial due to the anti oxidants present in the wine.

  25. katrinaandkorey Says:

It’s not all the womans fault….if the father drinks or smokes heavly it causes defects in the sperm which effects the developing fetus.
