good job! some technical notes though: sound is inconsistent (louder effects but quiet dialogue) and the lighting is a bit dark, but those are easy tweeks.
To give some breathing room you could probably tighten the rest up just the tiniest bit. You only need a second or two at the end. For instance: you could pull a quarter second or so from the very beginning, maybe time compress the cork pull (pull every other frame or so) to shave off another tenth… I’d avoid cutting any of the falling trash, but you might be able to pull out every tenth frame or so to speed that up a bit without changing the impact too much…
I agree about the time but there’s a 30 second limit to the scholarship.
Same with music is that it had to draw from a specific site approved by the scholarship only.
I’d give it a little breathing room at the end after “get trashed”… The cutoff seems a bit abrupt. Maybe fade to black or transition to a message.
Some music to underly the work would also help add a bit more continuity and depth.
While it’s not all that original a concept, it was well done. Other than the abrupt end the overall timing is quite good and the shots are fairly well framed.
Not sure if it was the transition to YouTube, but the color seems a bit off as well.
Now that I think about it, you guys could cover up the low lighting by overlaying a grime mask in After Effects or something. Anti-alcohol/drug PSAs often have a sort of grime overlay, that could mask the dark conditions?
Worked out great! I appreciate that the mess may have taken a LONG time to clean up, but it worked out fantastically.
All the best with the scholarship.

Well she says “you guys wanna have some fun?” and the shaking her head is meant to look just annoyed and frustrated by the drunk friend. It also works to be saying no to the idea of having fun as getting drunk. Either way.
And thanks!
I liked it, Adam! But I was a bit confused whether your friend who nodded “no” was saying that she wasn’t having fun or that she didn’t wanna get trashed? Other than that, I read about your lighting concerns. I think you’ll get the money!
She’s holding a paper bag as she walks in and uncorks it right before the trash falls.
If that’s not clear, at least the judges will know it’s an alcohol PSA before they see it.

I think as long as you have a pre-keyed overlay you can use it in any video editing program.
If you don’t have any grime overlays, you can easily make one in Photoshop and import the .psd into Final Cut, I believe.

I wish I had After Effects. I have Final Cut Express which I don’t think is capable of something that cool.
