Anti-Drug PSA #2
February 24, 2010 - 10:56 am
Public Service Announcement #2–This is another parody of another anti-drug commercial that aired in the 1980′s. In that one, a guy does cocaine while talking to the camera saying, “I do coke so I can work longer, so I can make more money, so I can buy more coke, so I can work longer, so I can make more money, so I can buy more coke…etc” Religion is an addiction to those who enjoy it, and slavery to those who don’t. I know, I was once a slave to Christianity. There is an alternative…Atheism. Check out my website! www.atheists.org/tx Joe Zamecki, Austin, Texas

Well you can’t say that about my video series “When Christians Misbehave.” It doesn’t rail against religion, it merely shows some religious people doing what they love to do. I’m not responsible for other Atheists and their methods, but again, if you think WE rail against things too much, you should check out religion.

I’m not religious so i don’t watch them. From what i know they are nut jobs and likely involved with religion for monetary gain. I am actually saddened by what I see from atheist groups on you tube. You all seem to claim freedom from religion yet all you do is rail against it? strange. Also I see the same trademarks of the religios groups themselves. Most notably arguing from a standpoint of infallability.Rational responders? Not at all.

ShrinerMcbitey–That’s the alternative to the argument we hear more often on that topic: “You atheists comment on religion all the time, but do you really ever sit down and WATCH TBN?” Yes, we investigate that which we comment on, just like most responsible activists do. Again though, if you think I’M obsessed over religion, what do you think about Fred Phelps, Benny Hinn and Pat Robertson? You must HATE them…
February 24th, 2010 at 1:31 pm
You kind of just proved my point — why would you watch TBN? It just seems a true non believer wouldn’t care about those who are clearly wrong to him and certainly wouldn;t obsess over the deluded christians.

ShrinerMcbitey – Disproving people who are religious? Could you please be more specific? I don’t believe in gods and I live a happy life. Making videos like these does not change that. Since around 85% of Americans are Christian, I’d say we Atheists aren’t in danger of becoming addicted to whatever attention we can get for these issues. You should see TBN!
February 24th, 2010 at 1:36 pm
I dont quite understand you. If you are an atheist why do you care about disproving people who are religious? Wouldn’t you just not believe and live life? Perhaps you just get lots of attention for spouting your disbelief?

so i can think what i want and not be controlled or manipulated by lies or bullshit. you use the word freedom. freedom contradicts what you are trying to say.

mordred02—I didn’t suggest any such thing. You assume too much. I was locked in the fantasy world of Christianity against my will for 9 years, so that’s who I am to tell you to reject that fantasy. I never said every theist is death obsessed, and I don’t think that’s true. It’s not the belief in afterlife that’s a problem for me, it’s all the pushing of that belief–sometimes at our financial expense.
February 24th, 2010 at 3:21 pm
If you don’t want or need it, fine. Who are you to suggest that other people are stupid or deluded for wanting or needing something different? Who do you think you are to tell us to reject our “fantasy”? Not every theist is as death obsessed as you’ve convinced yourself, just because they believe in life after death.

Atheism is about living, and it’s scary to hear about so many people who want me to ignore the value of living, and focus only on the value of being dead. There is hope in living, and only fantasy after life. I prefer living. I don’t want to wait for eternity for something I won’t ever need or want. Don’t wait to live! You only get one chance at it.

“Heaven is just a waiting room without a way out.”
As opposed to atheism, which is…nothing? Let’s face it, death is scary. Is it really so awful for someone to hope for an existence beyond this life? One free of the suffering of this world? I’m not talking about the Christian heaven necessarily, just a hope that has existed throughout human history in many forms. If you prefer ceasing to exist, that’s your choice. Personally, I’ll take the waiting room. They have couches.

mordredt02—Well after we get free from religion, the really negative parts of god-ideas don’t affect us anymore. That’s how to break the cycle of theism.
February 24th, 2010 at 6:08 pm
mordred02—We ask devout Christians what they plan to do in Heaven, and they really can’t answer, other than to say that they’ll be worshiping God. I think that’s plenty circular. Without that part of the circularity of theism, Heaven is just a waiting room without a way out.

“I deny the existence of all gods, so I can be free from religion…so I can deny the existence of all gods, so I can be free from religion, so I can deny the existence of all gods…”
February 24th, 2010 at 7:31 pm
I thought it was funny at first, but it’s not really that circular. You see, Christians don’t worry about getting saved after they get to heaven, so they just worship God every day, for eternity. Granted some people aren’t into that. Just saying it’s not really an endless cycle like the coke thing.

He really doesn’t understand the real feeling you get from being Christian.
February 24th, 2010 at 8:01 pm
lol. don’t know what video cam you’re using, but gives a great 80′s ‘feel’ to the resolution and color as well as the plain text and the cheesy music. bravo
