Another audience with Dame Shirley Bassey. Recorded 30th. October 2005. Part 6. (Last part). Lyrics Maybe this time (From ‘Cabaret’): Maybe this time, I’ll be lucky Maybe this time, he’ll stay Maybe this time For the first time Love won’t hurry away He will hold me fast I’ll be home at last Not a loser anymore Like the last time And the time before Everybody loves a winner So nobody loved me; ‘Lady Peaceful,’ ‘Lady Happy,’ That’s what I long to be All the odds are in my favor Something’s bound to begin It’s bound to happen, happen sometime Maybe this time I’ll win. Mini Biography Liza Minelli: Liza Minnelli was born on March 12, 1946, the daughter of Judy Garland and movie director Vincente Minnelli. She was practically raised at MGM studios while her parents worked long hours there and she made her film debut at fourteen months of age in the movie In the Good Old Summertime (1949). Her father, Vincente Minnelli, later married Georgette Magnani, mother of her step-sister Christiana Nina Minnelli. At sixteen, Liza was on her own in New York City, struggling to begin her career in show business. Her first recognition came for the play “Best Foot Forward” which ran for seven months in 1963. A year later, Judy invited Liza to appear with her for a show at the London Paladium. This show sold out immediately and a second night was

    Denange-
If Ms. Bassey can speak to your heart and tug on your heartstrings, maybe you don’t have to wait ’til ‘nextime’. Get on stage now. I’ll bet Shirley would be proud
    of you. God bless.

I am 35 and I remember Mom and Dad playing her records once and again in our viila in Mexico… her voice is simply amazing. She is the only woman who’s able to reach the deepest part of my heart and make me cry, that’s how she beautiful sings for me. Maybe “Nextime” I will have a voice like hers.

I met Shirl April 1955 on the “Duke of Argyll” ferry boat from Heysham to Belfast.
She travelled steerage with her manager, and I made her a cup of tea at 6.00 am in the morning ( I was a cabin boy). and she said “thanks luv”.Her hair was short afro and she had these long manicured bright red fingernails,
Shirl is nine months older than myself, and i have followed her career ever since.
Great performer and an everlasting icon of the entertainment world.
