I discussed the aspect of lack of stimuli earlier, among others in BRAIN JOGGING, IQ, AND THE JB PARADOX

  3. bvongrabe Says:

Exactly what I am saying, and that does not only concern old people, as Siegfried Lehrl of the University of Erlangen/Germany proved with his studies that the lack of intellectual stimuli causes a drop in IQ.

Since you brought up a treatment for Alzheimers, what do think about the following treatment: Give them a combination of a mindstimulant nootropic (such as modafinil) and let them read interesting books and do stimulating brain exercises.

I believe that a large part of the Alzheimers disease is exacerbated by letting old people dumb down in front of a TV. They rarely have younger people around to have interesting conversations with. What do you think?

HA HA – not the CAR Nash – some psychologist who came up with the theory that all people are basically selfish and are best off when that selfishness was allowed to guide them uninhibited. He turned out to be a paranoid schizophrenic. But it was too late by the time they found out – our society had already incorporated those assumptions into public policy.

  6. bvongrabe Says:

John Nash? Are you serious? Well if you like cars you will like today’s clip: “The 2009 Geneva Auto Show”. up in about an hour or so.

“I enjoy every minute of it [hypomania]” ha ha!

About 10 years ago, there was a book called “Car Living Your Way.” It was for working people, not “bums,” who had to choose between an apartment and a car and decided they could not do without the car. This has been building up for a LONG time.

Limbaugh may be brain-damaged; many loudmouth opinion leaders in history later proved to be mentally ill (like John Nash and his “Game Theory.”) He may also just be amoral and making great $.

Gee, why didn’t I come up with some kind of medication. Coming to think of I did, but it only worked for 6 weeks – oh well.

  9. bvongrabe Says:

OxyContin is a prescription painkiller used for moderate to high pain relief associated with injuries, bursitis, dislocations, fractures, neuralgia, arthritis, lower back pain, and pain associated with cancer. THERE ARE CERTAIN SIDE EFFECTS THAT MAY BE SERIOUS and in certain patients iwht liver or kidney disorders, interaction with other medication is enhanced.

  11. noslen1968 Says:

What condition would merit a prescription to this drug?

  12. bvongrabe Says:

Metaphorically speaking yes, actually OxyContin® is the brand name of a time-release formula of the analgesic chemical oxycodone hydrochloride, an opioid analgesic medication synthesized from opium-derived thebaine. Its chemical name is derived from codeine – the chemical structures are very similar, differing only in that the hydroxyl group of codeine has been oxidized to a carbonyl group.

I believe that drug is the essentially heroin in pill form and is the strongest opiate derived pill made.
