When Percocet and Vicodin are no longer produced in the US what will I be prescribed?

I have read that Percocet and Vicodin, because of their Acetaminophen content, are going to be taken off the shelves. A recommendation has been given to the FDA to lower maximum does of Tylenol and other Acetaminophen products (from 1000 mg to 650 at a time) and totally do away with the opiate combination painkillers.

My guess, and it’s just a guess fueled by anger at our government and failing health system, is that we’ll all be smoking dope. *shakes head* So much for those of us who have never done illegal drugs in our lives, but also suffer severe migraines.

Vicodin is 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500mg of acetomenophen so if this is true what you heard it shouoldn’t be affected. However I don’t beleive what you have read is true and some drugs will come with a “black box” warning which for you will mean an additional line on the paper with your prescription tell you it’s conseqnences.

I would like to think that the primary pain medication would be prescribed which is oxycodone or hydrocodone minus the acetaminophen.
For those who may not be aware of this FDA thing here is a website with the article

While we have been pumping ourselves full of meds to not feel the pain, we have neglected to find the ways to release the pain instead. Of course nobody makes money that way, especially the company’s that are putting a lot into r and d. The sooner more find out how to release their own muscles the better of we are going to be, the less we are going to have to rely on the medical field to tell us that what we have is chronic, something most of us knew when we went in. Every muscle can be released and is easy enough to do that you won’t have to be an Einstein to take care of yourself.
