But an estimated 20 percent of people in the United States have used prescription drugs for nonmedical reasons. This is prescription drug abuse. It is a serious and growing problem. Abusing some prescription drugs can lead to addiction. You can develop an addiction to: Narcotic painkillers Sedatives and tranquilizers Stimulants Experts don’t know exactly why this type of drug abuse is increasing. The availability of drugs is probably one reason. Doctors are prescribing more drugs for more health problems than ever before. Online pharmacies make it easy to get prescription drugs without a prescription, even for youngsters. Some people experiment with prescription drugs because they think they will help them have more fun, lose weight, fit in, and even study more effectively. Prescription drugs can be easier to get than street drugs: Family members or friends could have a prescription. But prescription drugs are also sometimes sold on the street like other illegal drugs. A 2006 National Survey on Drug Use and Health showed that among all youths aged 12 to 17, 6% had tried prescription drugs for recreational use in the last month. Why?     I don’t give a fuck. I’ve been on xanax for about 5 years and the fucking doctor cut me off of them and I’m pissed. When I start to go into withdraws, I’m getting a fucking attorney and I’m suing.

    @hemptime123 just curious, what makes it healthy? I thought the reason it isn’t accepted is because there isn’t a proven medical use. Doesn’t it help glaucoma or something?

    dont mess with these i’ve benn addicted to percs and oxys since i was 14 and im 16 now been to rehab twice got expelled from school just fucked my life up. dont fucking do it

    in what respect does this drug, make you “unfeeling” ? Is it in all aspects, such as emotional unfeeling and physically unfeeling? would you be neglectful to your children because of it?

    Its a very worrying situation that has grown in the last years, a lot of teens are abusing from prescribed drugs, more attention from relatives and Physicians is needed to stop this from growing more, around 15 to 20 percent of patients abuse a certain drug at least once in their life.     My husbands 25 yr. old nephew, just died this Summer from overdosing on these pills. He’d been addicted for years, and refused help.

    I have met many such people in the last year.
    Some are addicted; others get the scipts to simply sell them. There is quite a market for these meds.

    I have met a few that have legitimate use for them, that want only to avoid paying a office call fee.

    In the end; the state taxpayers paid for them, initially.
