If a former amphetamine addict lacks motivation constantly, can they ever regain it?

A former amphetamine addict- their dopamine receptors gone, their supply of neurotransmitters very low- has no motivation. Listless, apathetic. Will they ever be able to regain it and how so?

I’m sure it’s on an individual basis- but for me it did get better. I am a recovering addict whose drug of choice was meth- it took over a year for me to get to where I actually gave a damn about things… Now (it’s been about 2 yrs and 4 mos. since I used meth) I am more motivated than I think I was before the dope. I mean- I have something that I really want and I guess I’m just motivated to get there. I had to get to where I saw how sad I’d become and decided if I was going to be so miserable I might as well be getting high- I found some things to focus on and it really helped me. I also attend NA meetings now and this is a good outlet when I’m having a hard time “just living life”.
