I think it is clear who is the bully here.

Holy cow, I’ll need a moment to digest that one. Are you actually bringing up Hitler in a discussion about depression?
Hey, I know what!
Maybe you aren’t really depressed and just sitting here on youtube all day making comments on the same video. But then again, maybe I’m wrong. That would make any person depressed. You are simply laying the grounds of the depression yourself by saying stupid shit and trying to feel better about your own pathetic extistence by attacking others.

You are indicative of what makes mental illness so hard to live. All you self appointed “experts” who have no idea what you’re talking about.
But actually – Hitler felt the same way about people with Depression as you do.
There are lots of people like you.

To telemetry9: First things first. I’m VERY active. If you are more active than me, you’re a so-called training-junkie or some shit. Second, why do you think you have it? That’s my question. And third, I’m not arrogant. I’m a very anti-arrogant person. and fourth, MS and cancer? You compare depression with cancer??
..Mmm..fascinating.
I wonder if old Toby who’s laying half dead from cancer in his lungs agrees.

anti depressants = lawful dangerous drugs
March 2nd, 2010 at 9:53 am
I have probably been more physically active in my life than you could ever hope to be. I still had and have depression each day of my life.
You shouldn’t comment on things you think you understand when you clearly don’t. Maybe you should go and give the people with MS and cancer the same kind of advice.
Your arrogance is extraordinary.

One of the awful things about depression is that there are people who had a bad day in 2006 and managed to “get over it” and they think they had depression and “overcame it”.
This then gives them that sense of entitlement to speak on a subject they think they understand. Here is hoping they never get to truly understand what depression is. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
Keep fighting……:) There are still people with real empathy and understanding out there.

that’s the same with my family. My mom keeps telling me just to “smile and be determined to be happy”. She just doesn’t get that that’s not the way it works. I don’t choose to be like this, and I can’t just choose to snap out of it whenever I want. It sucks not having anyone to talk to that understands.
March 2nd, 2010 at 10:55 am
Thank you so much for your comment. Other than my dr. and my husband nobody understands what I am going through. They just think I am having a bad day and need to snap out of it.

Depression is very serious. I dont choose to have a depression, and i still have. Every day is a struggle for me. I dont have future plans, cause i just try to get trough the day. I expirienced 25 years of mental abuse. It infected my hole lifestyle and my thoughts. I can never really talk to someone about it. i feel alone very often. my boyfriend left me cause of my temper, witch is caused by the depression. its hard to heal or stay positive when people act so selfish..

no most individuals may experience ‘depression’ is what he means. Clinical depression is an actual illness whereby physical changes in the function of the brain occurs- it not merely pertaining from the experiences in our life that make us feel ‘down’. Just depression is probably more concerned with mood- in any case if it is not prolonged, anyways. depression is a phenomenon(hence your obvious lack of understanding) because it is not fully understood or able to be treated.

I was put on 3 different types of anti depressants at different stages by a doctor a few years ago. They were older ones and had lots of bad side effects. I understand there are newer and better drugs but that kinda made me uneasy around these drugs. Im having trouble finding the right councellor to talk to.

@telemetry9
i agree with you completely and i don’t understand why people get so angry when they hear the truth about depression, that can be helped with medication, that it is a physical and mental condition, can be inherited, etc. why so much resistance to the truth? i don’t get it. people seem to love to blame the victim when it comes to depression. this negative attitude towards psychiatric meds is killing people via suicide every day. oh, and kidneys? wtf???? really people?????

“never compare yourself to others – someone will always be better or worse than you are but never the same as.”
March 2nd, 2010 at 3:09 pm
If you’ve never experienced depression then you should keep your mouth shut.
Depression kills many people and destroys lives and it has genetic factors in some cases. This is not a “lifestyle choice” it is a real illness. The ridiculous comments below are testament to the cruelty and ignorance that surround it. Believe me – no one would choose to have depression.
IT has NOTHING to do with kidneys as described below – ignorant people think they know what depression is. They haven’t a clue.

yes… true
March 2nd, 2010 at 4:36 pm
it’s “dumb” and i agree with you, pills do nothing but fuck you up futher, ive experienced this, the taker becomes happy when they are taking them because the medication is a constant for them, giving them a temporary relief. when you don’t take your pills, it gets ugly. Lots of doctors are fucking clueless and it’s a joke they perscribe pills without knowing full history of the person.

Depression is a effect of stagnated energy in kidney and liver. The western doctors explanation is not the thruth! Go to an doctor educated in TCM (traditional chinese medicin). You will get acupuncture and herbs. Don´t take drugs! With TCM you will really get cured. With drugs you will only get rid of the symptoms. That´s exactly how the western educated doctors work. They don´t cure. They erase the symptoms!!!!!!!!!

ya whenever I hear religion I sometimes get carried away Im actually starting to feel better about myself by working out and tanning. The best thing for me has been marijuana but I havent smoked for a couple of months because I was getting pretty lazy but I did feel better about myself even though I was just sleeping and eating lol and I’d only do it after 6 and during the day it helped because I had something to look forward to.

@sharkshockey19
i think he simply means, if someone has a faith in God, then even in the emptiest of times in life, they still feel there is a purpose to life.. the faithful people are the lucky ones in this world, regardless of what the truth is, because whatever the mind’s perception is can help/hurt the ability to cope with existence
